Product Description
58 mm precision titanium coffee filter with an 18 g capacityThe piece that touches your coffee directly—and the most affordable upgrade you can taste in the cup
The filter that comes with your machine is punched with standard industrial precision: the holes are uneven and the distribution is irregular, so water passes through some areas more than others no matter how carefully you distribute and tamp. The precision filter is laser-punched with even distribution, allowing water to pass evenly through the entire coffee bed. Made from pure titanium in a 58 mm size with an 18 g capacity, and available in six graduated color finishes.
What does a truly precision filter mean?
The standard filter is punched with mechanical presses, so you find wider holes in the center and narrower ones around the edge, with some holes containing metal burrs that obstruct flow. The precision filter is laser-punched with a uniform diameter and even distribution across the entire base. The result is that water distributes itself across the entire coffee bed instead of concentrating in one area. The difference is especially clear when using a bottomless portafilter: the flow descends as one cohesive column instead of spraying from one side. It is the most affordable part of an espresso setup that delivers a noticeable improvement, because it is the last thing to touch your coffee before the cup.
Three things that distinguish it from the machine's filter
Evenly distributed laser-punched holes
A uniform diameter and even distribution across the entire base allow water to pass evenly through all the coffee instead of carving a path through one area and leaving the rest untouched.
Pure titanium
Lighter and stronger than stainless steel, it does not react with coffee acids or transfer a metallic taste. The graduated color finish comes from surface treatment, not paint that can peel.
18 g capacity
The standard capacity for a double shot in most cafés and published recipes, so you can follow any recipe you find without recalculating the ratios.

Important before ordering
The filter is 58 mm with an 18 g capacity, so you need a 58 mm portafilter or it will not fit. Also note a point many people overlook: changing the filter changes flow resistance, so after installation you will need to redial in your grind size because your shot will run faster or slower than before. This is normal and temporary; after two or three attempts, you will be back to your usual recipe. Do not knock the filter against a hard edge to empty the coffee, as bending the rim can prevent it from sealing properly inside the portafilter.

Common questions before ordering
Will it fit my current portafilter?
It fits any 58 mm portafilter, standard or bottomless. Measure the diameter of your current filter before ordering; if it is 51 or 54 mm, this filter is not compatible.
Do I need to change the grind size afterward?
Usually, yes. The precision filter changes flow resistance, so your first shot will run at a different speed. Adjust the grind by one or two clicks and you will be back to your usual recipe.
What is the difference between titanium and stainless steel?
Titanium is lighter and stronger and does not react with coffee acids, so it does not transfer a metallic taste. Its color finish comes from surface treatment, not paint that peels with use.
Is 18 g too much for my shot?
18 g is the standard capacity for a double shot, and most published recipes are based on it. If you pull single shots with significantly less coffee, a smaller capacity would suit you better.
Will it improve the taste on its own?
It improves the consistency of water flow, which reduces uneven extraction. But it is the final link in the chain: if your grind or distribution is off, the filter alone cannot compensate.
How do I clean it?
Rinse it with hot water after every shot and periodically soak it in espresso machine cleaner to clear the holes of accumulated oils. Avoid knocking it against a hard edge.
